Facebook Group

With the onset of the gluten free diet becoming the latest health fad, we have had an explosion of requests to join our group.  Singapore Celiac and Gluten Intolerance Facebook Group is a group that focuses on a medically necessary gluten free diet and lifestyle of people living in Singapore.  We seek members who reflect that and actively look at profiles of people requesting membership.

If you do not have an obvious connection to Singapore or a profile picture you will not be added to the group. We understand that your privacy is important too and you may limit what the public can see on your profile. If you have been waiting for approval, please contact the moderators and let us know a little bit about you. Likewise, if you live outside of Singapore but would like to join our group in preparation for an upcoming visit or move, please contact us with more information about your situation.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Gluten Intolerance Group of Singapore (Singapore Celiac & Gluten Intolerance Support Group) Facebook Group was established to improve gluten free life in Singapore through sharing of information and connecting of people.

This Facebook group of Gluten Intolerance Group of Singapore is a local branch of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America. The opinions expressed here represent that of our Branch and may not reflect those opinions of our national organization.

In agreement with Celiac (Coeliac) Societies from around the world, we always recommend screening for Celiac Disease prior to the start of a gluten free diet. We consider proper diagnosis to be a critical step. The gold standard for diagnosis is a blood panel to check for antibodies to gluten and an endoscopy to ascertain damage to villi. These both need to be completed while consuming a gluten.

Please share only recipes that you have personally tried. Although many recipes on the web look delicious, often they are difficult to make, do not turn out as pictured or include ingredients that are not available in Singapore.

GENERAL MANNERS:
Our focus is on medically necessary gluten free diets. While we all strive towards healthy diets, we must pick our battles. First and foremost we are gluten free. We recognize that many newly diagnosed Celiacs need to be dairy free as well as their gut heals. Please be mindful when commenting or replying to posts that many people are new to this journey and struggle with gluten free alone.

Personal Messages (PMs) are is strongly discouraged. If you have something to say, share it with the group as we will all benefit from the information. Sending a PM for the purpose of selling a product or service is strictly prohibited. Any reported offenders will be removed from the group.

We welcome posts on your experiences with gluten free restaurants and menus. Please keep comments focused on gluten free safety and avoid personal issues with the management. Please contact the restaurants for problem solving prior to posting issues. Additionally, please post reviews of restaurants at www.FindMeGlutenFree.com. Your input into this data base will serve the gluten free community world wide.

Moderators reserve the right to delete posts, replies or members that we consider offensive or out of alignment with the group’s mission or rules.
